a. The Legal Aid Bureau (LAB) provides legal advice, legal assistance, and legal aid on civil matters, to Singapore citizens and Permanent Residents with limited means. Please visit https://eservices.mlaw.gov.sg/labesvc/ for more information on the eligibility criteria and to submit an online application.
b. The Public Defender’s Office (PDO) and Pro Bono SG (PBSG) provide criminal defence aid to accused persons with limited means who are charged with non-capital offences. Please visit https://pdo.mlaw.gov.sg for further details.
c. Law Society’s Community Legal Clinics provide general legal guidance on personal issues to those who are unable to afford a lawyer and have not yet obtained legal advice. Please visit https://www.lawsocprobono.org/pages/community-legal-clinic.aspx for more information.
d. A number of other legal clinics in Singapore provide legal advice. Refer to Annex A for details on the eligibility criteria and how to make an appointment.
- The public may also continue to access online tools and websites that provide useful information:
a. The iLAB chatbot on the Legal Aid Bureau’s website provides tailored legal information on divorce, family violence, and issues related to COVID-19; it is also able to generate simple legal documents.
b. The Community Justice Centre’s Automated Court Document Assembly and Generation (ACDA) provides step-by-step guidance on filing certain court forms.
c. The Legal Services Regulatory Authority (LSRA) website has a database of all Singapore solicitors and law practices registered with LSRA. The advanced search function allows searches by area of practice.
d. The Law Society of Singapore website has a directory of law practices, sorted based on area of practice. It is not a complete list of all law practices, only those which have chosen to advertise on the website.
e. The Asia Law Network (ALN) website has a directory of practicing lawyers in Singapore and Asia, sorted by area of practice, language and country of practice.
f. The Singapore Legal Advice website has a directory of practicing lawyers and their contact details, sorted by area of practice.
