In December last year, Government announced its acceptance of the recommendations of Justice V K Rajah’s Committee to Develop the Singapore Legal Sector, including inter alia, recommendations relating to liberalisation of the legal services sector and disciplinary proceedings for lawyers in Singapore.

The Legal Profession (Amendment) Bill 2008 (0.3MB) containing proposed amendments to the Legal Profession Act to give effect to these recommendations was tabled before Parliament for 1st reading on 21 July 2008.
