Appointment of new Chief Executive, Singapore Land Authority

Mr Tan Boon Khai will assume appointment as Chief Executive, Singapore Land Authority (SLA) with effect from 1 May 2015. He succeeds Mr Vincent Hoong Seng Lei, who served as Chief Executive, SLA from 1 May 2009 to 31 March 2015. Mr Hoong was appointed as the Registrar of the Supreme Court by the President on 1 April 2015.

Mr Tan, 41, graduated from the University of Nottingham, United Kingdom in 1995 with a Bachelor of Laws (Hons) (First Class). He was called as a Barrister-at-Law to Lincoln’s Inn in London, UK, in 1996, and was subsequently admitted as an Advocate and Solicitor of the Supreme Court in 2002.

Mr Tan has experiences both in government and the private sector. He joins SLA from CapitaLand Limited, where he is currently Head, Group Procurement. Prior to this, he was Regional General Manager (Singapore and Malaysia) for The Ascott Limited.

Mr Hoong’s tenure at SLA was marked by many significant achievements. He championed the successful reform of the Conveyance Practice in Singapore through the implementation of the Electronic Payment Instruction System in 2011. He also drove the Singapore Geospatial Collaborative Environment (SG-SPACE) project and launched the OneMap in 2010. Under his leadership, SLA has been ranked amongst the top 5 agencies in the Pro-Enterprise Ranking (PER) Survey on Government Agencies since 2010.
