Visit of Senior Minister of State for Education and Law Indranee Rajah to Myanmar, 18 to 20 February 2014

Senior Minister of State (SMS) for Law and Education, Ms Indranee Rajah SC, will be in Myanmar for a visit from 18 to 20 February 2014.

During the visit, SMS Indranee Rajah will meet various Myanmar leaders, including Union Education Minister Dr Khin Sann Yi, Chief Justice of the Union U Tun Tun Oo, Union Attorney General Dr Tun Shin, Presidential Senior Legal Adviser U Sit Aye, and Presidential Legal Advisers Daw Khin Myo Myint and U Nyan Naing Win.

SMS Indranee Rajah will be joined by the Deans of the law faculties of NUS and SMU, and other senior officials from the Ministry of Law.

Landmark MOUs on Legal Education

On 18 and 19 February 2014, SMS Indranee Rajah will witness the signing of two Memoranda of Understanding on Cooperation in Legal Education (“MOU”) between the National University of Singapore (NUS) Faculty of Law and the Singapore Management University (SMU) School of Law, with the University of Yangon Department of Law and the University of Mandalay Department of Law, respectively.

The MOUs aim to promote cooperation in legal education between the universities. Key areas of cooperation will include faculty exchanges, study visits, curriculum planning and design, cooperation in legal education pedagogy, as well as enhancement of legal research and development resources.
